Collectief Circulair Textiel is an initiative of the environmental organization Fair Resource Foundation. Typically, producer responsibility organizations (PROs) are founded by producers (or producer federations). Collectief Circulair Textiel is the first producer responsibility organization in Europe to be established by an environmental organization.

The desire for CCT emerged from years of experience with EPR systems. Fair Resource Foundation has concluded that the structure of producer responsibility organizations needs to be adjusted – with a focus on better governance and more transparency – if we want to strive together for a positive impact on our society and the environment. In doing so, a producer responsibility organization has the opportunity to go beyond focusing on low costs only. And that is what CCT demonstrates.
