COLLECTIEF CIRCULAIR TEXTIEL

Working together towards EPR for textiles that prioritizes sustainability and social impact.

Our principles

Our vision is that collaborative efforts lead to better and more widely accepted ideas and solutions. Therefore, we employ a distinctive form of governance: we embed inclusive decision-making models that encourage open dialogue and ideation, with transparency as a prerequisite. Together with producers, collectors, recyclers, municipalities, NGOs, and other stakeholders, we initiate an EPR system for textiles that surpasses legal requirements.

We achieve this through three pillars:

Inclusive governance

Fair representation and participation for a broad group of stakeholders within the structures of CCT.

Prioritizing Sustainability

We go beyond legal requirements by prioritizing sustainability and scaling up those efforts.

Optimal Transparency

Transparency regarding finances, data, implementation, and decision-making models of CCT.

Our mission

Collectief Circulair Textiel implements Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles in the Netherlands. We aim for an EPR system that prioritizes sustainability and social value, with collaboration and transparency as its foundation.

Specifically, we focus on:

  • Encouraging collection systems and technologies for high-quality recycling;
  • Promoting reuse and repair, including through partnerships with organizations with social and environmental goals;
  • Preventing the destruction of unsold goods;
  • Creating incentives for the production of textiles that focus on longevity and recycling;
  • Stimulating system innovation and sustainable business models;
  • Fostering and encouraging public debate on the sustainability of textiles.

Fee structure

The contributions CCT requires from producers are calculated based on the amount of textiles in kilograms a producer placed on the Dutch market in the previous calendar year.

Calculation example:

Producer X sells 100,000 kilos on the Dutch market in 2024.

100,000 x 0.20 cents = €20,000 = contribution for 2025

Fee 2025: 0,20 eurocents per kilo of product placed on the Dutch market (based on 2024 estimations)

Fee 2026: To be determined at a later point in time – estimated that fee will need to be raised due to higher costs for meeting legislative goals.
